Discovering the 'DaVinci Fold':

On a scorching summer afternoon in Nevada back in 2007, while driving home from work in my air condition-less Jeep Wrangler, I stumbled upon an interview on KNPR (Public Radio) featuring Slavisa Pesci, an Italian information technologist. Pesci was passionately discussing his revolutionary theory centered around Leonardo da Vinci's renowned masterpiece, 'The Last Supper'. This revelation came at a time when the world was still captivated by Dan Brown's immensely popular 2003 novel, 'The Da Vinci Code', which had been adapted into a movie in 2006, reigniting fascination in Leonardo's artistic genius. Pesci's discovery involved overlaying a reverse translucent image of 'The Last Supper' onto a regular image of the same, unveiling previously unseen images and characters. Being an ardent admirer of Leonardo and a Photoshop enthusiast, I couldn't contain my excitement to rush home and attempt to replicate Pesci's captivating theory. Without wasting a moment, as soon as I reached my computer, I delved into recreating this intriguing technique.

As I examined the images with amazement, I found myself captivated by the idea of not just sliding the two full-length images, but rather folding the one translucent image in half. This approach provided me with a distinct starting point and an endpoint for the new image. However, the question remained:  where should I make the fold? It caught my attention that there was only a single wall lamp positioned behind the characters in this new image. On the other half of the image, the Apostle Thomas was depicted as "pointing towards the sky," a gesture reminiscent of John the Baptist in another renowned masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci. This led me to contemplate the possibility of bringing Thomas closer to the light source and aligning the two, causing Thomas to point directly upwards towards the lamp on the wall. As a result, new characters emerged, and thus, the innovative process known as the "DaVinci Fold" was born.

To my astonishment, over the last 15 years, I had eagerly anticipated the emergence of a comparable theory, yet it never materialized. However, during my exploration of Leonardo da Vinci's other creations, I stumbled upon a fascinating revelation. By replicating the "DaVinci Fold" technique in numerous masterpieces, I uncovered a series of enigmatic outcomes. Furthermore, I observed this identical pattern in the works of several esteemed Renaissance artists who were also fellow students of Andrea del Verrocchio. The prevalence of this pattern is far too substantial to be dismissed as a mere happenstance.

Disclaimer:  It is of utmost importance to recognize that any fictional characters or storylines that may arise from the 'DaVinci Fold' process, as explained in this publication, are purely speculative hypotheses based on my personal observations and historical investigations. It is crucial to emphasize that these hypotheses are not meant to criticize or disrespect any religious beliefs or individuals. Additionally, I would like to extend my sincere apologies to Leonardo da Vinci, Lorenzo de Credi, Andrea del Verrocchio, Sandro Botticelli, Raphael, and other esteemed Renaissance artists, as well as their descendants, genuine Leonardo historians, and anyone, including Pope Francis, who may find my interpretations offensive. The true beliefs of Leonardo cannot be definitively determined. This is simply 'one theory' among numerous possibilities.

Historical Fact:  The Knights Templar's final grand master, Jacques de Molay, along with other Templars from the central house of Paris, were arrested in the early hours on the ominous date of 'Friday the 13th', October 1307, on charges of heresy and other false accusations. King Philip the 'Fair' of France and Pope Clement V were behind the orchestrated charges. Molay was tortured for seven years and ultimately sentenced to death by burning at the stake in Paris in 1314. In honor of the 'heretical' Knights Templar, this book was released on 'Friday the 13th' of January in 2023.
